Setbacks in InQI

Introduction
Knowing the setback lines are essential in your design and yet calculations can be cumbersome in complex parcels.
InQI calculates the setback lines for you.
Based on few inputs from you, InQI shows you exactly where setback lines would be.
Let's see how this is done in InQI
First Thing First
The best practice is to initially make sure you are happy with the property lines. These lines define the boundary of the property. When you create a new project, the first thing to do is to make sure these lines look right to you.
Here are a couple of things to check right away after a new project is created.
- Do the lines look right to you? A couple of things to check are listed here:
- Lines should not contain neighboring roofs.
- Lines should not normally cross the street (unless the street is owned by the property owner)
- Are there too many lines? (this can be identified by crowded labels)
- Are there too few lines? If you need to better define a curve, you can always add points and modify polygons.
If you decide to make changes to the property lines after you have defined the setback lines, you will have to redo the work for setback lines. This is why we strongly suggest that you first make sure you are happy with how the property lines are defined before creating the setback lines
Create Setback Lines
InQI makes it extremely convenient for you to create setback lines. All you have to do is to provide some basic information for every setback line and let InQI do the math for you.
Here are the steps to create a new custom setback line:
- First, make sure that
Setback layer in theLayers Settings View is visible. - Goto
Setbacks Tab and make sure thatEnable Custom Setbacks is activated. - Click on
Add a New Custom Setback button. - In the new window, define these three items:
- The property line to which you want to add a custom setback. You can pick a line by its label.
- The name of the setback. For example, pick 'No Digging', 'No Pool'.
- The size of the setback in feet.
- Press
Add in the new window.
The new custom setback line is calculated and created for you. It shows on the map based on the format that you have already defined

Notes
You can define more than one custom setback line for any property line of choice.
Every custom setback line may be made visible or invisible.
For your convenience, a standard general setback line is also shown on the map.
You can adjust its value from
